Every young person has the right to a secure, safe and supportive home environment - homelessness can be one of the biggest challenges a young person faces.
Since 1989, United Synergies' Supported Accommodation Program has been providing a continuum of affordable, accessible accommodation and placement options to young people who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness. We support at risk young people and homeless young people, aged 12 to 25, on the Sunshine and Cooloola Coasts and hinterland areas, providing flexible accommodation options within an integrated case management framework.
Our Supported Accommodation services are designed to meet the needs of young people within different age groups and with varying needs.
Currently we provide three types of supported accommodation:
Supported Accommodation in the Community
Young people aged 16 to 25 who are homeless are able to live in a shared living arrangement with other young people or, where they have demonstrated an adequate level of life skills, independently in quality accommodation sourced by United Synergies.
24/7 Accommodation
This program provides 24-hour intensive specialist support, supervision and therapeutic intervention for young people between the ages of 14 and 17 who are in the care of Child Safety Services.
Supported Independent Living - Transition from Care
Supported Independent Living is care and support provided to young people who are transitioning from the care of the Queensland Government's Child Safety Services into independent living upon turning 18.
The program involves individual or small group living (no more than two young people per house) and is suited to young people in the 15-17 year age bracket with moderate to high support needs, who are in the process of transitioning to independent living.
