Geoff Walters (Chairman)

Geoff Walters was General Manager of United Synergies from June 2006 to April 2011.

Geoff has extensive experience in financial services, strategic development, administration and operations management roles and has motivated and lead large Australian and internationally based organisations. He has a broad background of expertise in strategic planning, finance and accounting, management and financial reporting, systems development, personnel administration, business analysis and support.

He has a Masters of Business from the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor of Business from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.

Ian Macdonald (Director)

Ian Macdonald was executive director of Relationships Australia for 23 years and managed its transition from a voluntary agency to become one of Queensland's largest professional counselling organisations.  He has been a member of the Queensland Government's Domestic Violence Task Force; was a foundation member and chair of the Queensland Responsible Gaming Advisory Committee; and member of the Queensland Gaming Commission.  Prior to accepting a board position, Ian worked alongside United Synergies staff for seven years, as a counsellor with Relationships Australia. He has now retired in Noosa. 

Michael Jacobson (Director)

Michael

Michael Jacobson has been involved in local government for more than 30 years and has held positions responsible for corporate and operational planning, performance reporting, customer services, corporate development and best business practice.  His current role is Manager, Corporate Development with the Sunshine Coast Regional Council.  He has been treasurer of Caloundra Youth Focus since 2003 and was also treasurer and counsellor with Lifelink, a telephone counselling service in Tasmania for six years.  Michael was a Member of the Australian Business Excellence Evaluator Panel for more than 12 years and has led a number of evaluation teams to assess public and private sector.

 Ian Montague (Director)

Ian Montague is the principle of Montague Consulting, a Sunshine Coast-based consultancy specialising in enterprise training advisory services.  With 15 years' experience in ceramic manufacturing and 10 years of business development in tertiary education institutions in Victoria and Queensland, Ian brings a broad range of management experience to the United Synergies board.
 
Ian has a Masters of Business Administrations (Marketing), a Graduate Diploma of Management, and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Australian Institute of Management.

Deb Mahoney (Director)

Deb Mahoney has been a Sergeant of Police at Noosa Heads Station since 1992.  With more than 35 years of policing experience in Brisbane, Rockhampton and on the Sunshine Coast, Deb enjoys serving her community, especially in regard to issues relating to domestic violence and supporting persons bereaved through suicide.  Deb has had prior experience as a Board member when United Synergies was operating as Noosa Youth Service. She also served on the Board for the Domestic Violence Telephone Service.

 

Selena Cartwright (Director)

Selena Cartwright approved

Selena Cartwright joined the United Synergies Board in November 2010.  She is Principal at Baldwin Cartwright Lawyers in Gympie and heads up both the Family Law and Plaintiff Litigation departments.

Selena holds a special interest in helping people who are involved in the breakdown of a relationship and prides herself on achieving the best possible outcome for her clients, in addition to providing tactical advice which ensures her clients’ rights are protected. She has practiced primarily in family law and has a wealth of experience in complex property matters, children’s matters, paternity disputes, child support issues, domestic violence, spousal maintenance and de facto property settlements.

Selena is also on the management committee of the Gympie Women’s and District Health Centre and the Gympie Weroona Association.
