What We Do

A Place to Turn

With more than 1000 clients calling on our services each year, the majority being young people between the ages of 14 and 17 (overall age range 10 to 24), we are one of regional Queensland’s major human services agencies.

In addition to these ‘direct need’ clients, we also number among our clients other service providers, agencies and government departments around Australia. These are broadly described as our ‘consultancy’ clients.

Around one-third of our ‘direct need’ clients approach us directly (self referral), often as the result of a suggestion by friends, peers or other support agencies.
The remainder are referred by agencies such as schools, Centrelink, the Department of Child Safety, Department of Communities and others.

Client referrals arise from a wide range of reasons and among them are:
     · Family breakdown and/or conflict
     · Personal trauma
     · Financial difficulty
     · Homeless and/or at risk of homelessness
     · At risk of leaving school prematurely.

Our ‘consultancy’ clients come to us for a range of services that might include organisational review and advice, specialist training for volunteers and staff, assistance in establishing service based programs and preparation of submissions and tenders.
