Volunteers & Carers
We owe a great debt of gratitude to those who volunteer their time to assist with the tasks undertaken at United Synergies. Many generous people in the community help to support young people and staff in a wide variety of ways… by volunteering to share their creative talents, assisting with literacy and numeracy tuition, providing transport, making doonas, working on cars, obtaining resources, raising funds, offering work experience and teaching young people general living skills. We hope that this great response from the local community will continue as these talents, rich life experiences and warm hearts make an enormous difference to the outcomes for young people. We also benefit from a strong partnership with Volunteering Sunshine Coast who work closely with us to ensure that the best match is made for the volunteer and United Synergies. If you feel you can help in some way – whether as a mentor working one-to-one with a young person through our carefully managed Mentoring Programs, you can download a Volunteer Application Form.pdf and forward to us at PO Box 365, Tewantin 4565, or phone 07 5442 4277 if you would like more information in our general volunteering areas. Recruiting suitable carers to work with adolescents is an ongoing challenge. We rely on the generosity and commitment of people in our community who are willing to care for young people who are facing exceptional challenges in their lives. Carers can care for young people in their own homes or they can live in one of our properties and provide support and guidance to young people who are transitioning into independence. Our carers are supported and trained by our specialist staff and receive a payment to cover expenses. If you are interested in becoming a carer you can download a Carer Fact Sheet for further information. You are also welcome to contact us directly on 07 5442 4277
